Real Estate Certification Program - 28 hours of in class and independent study course work
The Live Green, Live Smart / Certified Professional (CP) designation is a certification that is earned by a select few Real Estate professionals. The certification tells you that your CP Broker, Agent or in Canada, your Sales Person, understands green terminology, green building certification programs such as LEED®, have an understand of green building sciences and are knowledgeable about the state of the ecosystem. In addition they can direct you depending on where you are toward upward of tens of thousands of dollars in special green tax credits, incentive and rebates.
As a CP you receive the following:
- A green credentialed, Real Estate designation, only for licensed Real Estate Brokers, Agents, Sales People
- A comprehensive green Real Estate training program
- You are networked with other Brokers, Agents and Sales People throughout North America
- You have access to free green content for a your website, newsletters and e-mail programs
- You have green audit materials for use with your clients
- You receive logos, marketing materials and updates
Not everyone can become a CP. The designation is limited to a specific group of professionals.
- The individual must live in either Canada or the United States
- They must be licensed by a national certifying agency, and have liability insurance if they provide services
- They must comply with the CP license and criteria terms, which are available from a Live Green, Live Smart Trainer
- They must complete approximately 28 hours of classroom and independent study course work

Live Green, Live Smart™ is an organization located in Wayzata, Minnesota that focuses on primary research and education in sustainable construction. Our training is done in conjunction with Certified Staging Professionals™ a professional international organization focused on training systems for the Real Estate Industry.
The CP training was designed by the first organization to receive a LEED Platinum award for a remodel; it also had the highest number of LEED points ever given any LEED For Home ® project.
The program’s Executive Director, Peter Lytle, a former teacher and co-founder of a nationwide tutoring franchise, was also the head of pilot projects for Energy Star®, LEED for Homes® and Minnesota GreenStar® and is the founder of Live Green, Live Smart a socially responsible business®.
